Go 4 Greener: The Partner Behind Our Zero-to-Landfill Promise

Every gram of washroom waste we collect is taken to Go 4 Greener in Derby, where a £1.25 million investment in Advetec XO22 biotechnology turns it into Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) — a coal replacement burned in cement-works kilns. This is how we divert 100% of your washroom waste from landfill, with verifiable documentation behind every claim.

Who They Are

A Family-Run Specialist Just Up the Road

Go 4 Greener is a Derby-based commercial waste management and recycling company, founded in 2007 by Samantha and Wayne Turton. It is family-run, employs 25+ staff, and operates a fleet of 15+ specialist vehicles from a 3-acre facility in Derby — close enough to our Hinckley HQ to keep the transport footprint low.

Around 90% of the materials they collect come back to the Derby site for sorting and processing in modern, purpose-built machinery. They specialise in offensive waste, recyclables, hazardous waste, confidential waste and site clearance — but it is their investment in SRF biotechnology that puts them at the centre of our service.

An Industry First

The First Company in the World to Process Washroom Waste with Advetec Biotechnology

Historically, the high moisture content of offensive washroom waste meant only two routes were available: landfill, or Energy from Waste incineration. Both leak carbon. Both are expensive. Neither is genuinely circular.

In 2024, Go 4 Greener committed £1.25 million and signed an eight-year contract with Advetec, the UK biotechnology business, to install the XO22 — Advetec's largest aerobic biodigester — at their Derby facility. The XO22 uses naturally occurring bacteria to digest the organic fraction of the waste, stabilise what remains, and dramatically reduce its moisture content. The resulting floc is compressed into Solid Recovered Fuel.

SRF is a high-quality coal replacement. Each tonne of SRF displaces around 0.5 tonnes of coal in cement-works kilns — heavy industries that would otherwise burn fossil fuels. The result: lower carbon, no landfill, no incineration, and a measurable Scope 3 credential we can put in front of any auditor.

The Process

From Your Washroom to Cement Kiln, Step by Step

01

Collected from your washrooms

Our enhanced DBS-checked, photo-ID-carrying driver collects sealed bin liners from your sanitary, nappy and offensive-waste bins on the agreed weekday schedule.

02

Treated in the Advetec XO22

At Go 4 Greener's Derby site, the waste enters Advetec's largest aerobic biodigester. Naturally occurring bacteria stabilise the organic fraction and the technology removes 50% of the mass and 70% of the volume.

03

Compressed into SRF

The remaining floc is compressed into solid blocks of Solid Recovered Fuel — a high-energy, low-moisture fuel ready for industrial use. Go 4 Greener produces ~2,000 tonnes of SRF a year.

04

Burned in cement kilns

SRF blocks are sent to cement works, where they replace coal as the kiln's fuel. Every tonne of SRF displaces around 0.5 tonnes of coal. Heavy industry decarbonises while your waste stays out of the ground.

In Their Own Words

What the People Behind the Process Said

"Green is in our name, and we're always looking for ways to accelerate our journey towards Net Zero and support our customers in doing the same. Historically, the high moisture content of offensive washroom waste meant we had no choice but to dispose of this waste via landfill or EfW incineration. Advetec's XO22 changes all that."

Samantha Turton, Managing Director, Go 4 Greener

"This new breakthrough of technology is going to be one of the biggest stories and revolutions to washroom waste that will be talked about for years to come. From start to finish, working around the clock, we have finally got the results we need."

Conor Benton, Operations Manager, Go 4 Greener

"The Advetec XO22 will allow Go 4 Greener to move towards a more circular ethos, diverting waste from landfill and supporting the decarbonisation of heavy industries by turning waste once deemed worthless into a valuable fuel alternative."

Lee Knott, CEO, Advetec

Why This Partnership Matters

Why We Chose Go 4 Greener

Most national washroom providers send sanitary and offensive waste straight to incineration and call it "zero-to-landfill." Technically true, environmentally weak. We wanted a partner who could do more — and who happened to be local, family-run, and as obsessed with documentation and rigour as we are.

Go 4 Greener's investment in Advetec XO22 biotechnology means the waste we collect from your washrooms doesn't just get diverted from landfill — it gets converted into a fuel that displaces coal in some of the UK's most carbon-intensive industries. Every tonne we send them is a measurable Scope 3 reduction we can evidence on your behalf, with documentation backed by Go 4 Greener's ISO 14001 environmental management system and Environment Agency licensing.

That is the difference between a marketing claim and a verifiable sustainability credential — and it is why a small Derby family business sits at the heart of our service.
